head gasket problems?
well, a week ago yesterday i blew up my tranny in my hatch. right around the time that it happened it started running rough, it almost sounded like a subaru WRX when i started it up when cold. after running for a minute it smoothed out. i figured it was the head gasket...so since my tranny was fucked anyways i decided to pull the motor. should i go ahead and replace the head gasket to be safe, and if its another problem address it later? do you guys think it sounds like it could be the head gasket? i am running 10 psi at 10:1 compression...although i do have ARP head studs. one last question that i have is what head gasket should i put in and how much do they cost? thank you for any input
i dont think its your head gasket because you would have white smoke coming out your exhaust if it was a head gasket because of coolent leaking into the combustion chamber. im not sure why it would sound like a wrx though.
right, or water in the oil...but just because i don't have those symptoms doesn't mean i don't have a head gasket problem. it could be blown between cylinders, then expand when it heats up and seal it again. this would cause it run rough until it warmed up. it would be leaking compression into the other cylinder if that makes any sense.
btw, cometic MLS is only 83.95, where as fel pro is around 46 bucks...and i can't remember how much an OEM honda one is.

this might be a long shot but my car ran rough a couple mouths ago and did sound kinda like a wrx and what it was is when i washed my car the day before i had also washed my engine and some water made its way under my spark plug cover and you know how the spark plugs are recessed in the engine, well it filled the first and second spark plug hold with water. Just a thought.
Good Luck
