I got most of my turbo setup now done and just got my exhaust installed. When i rev up my car the BOV is letting the air out but no noise whatsoever . I know these have 2 valves inside and it should whistle at low boost and at high boost but im getting no sound at all . What could be the problem , this thing is brand new

 

is this the real hks or knock-off?

 

This is an authentic , has marking on it , had sticker with it and hks instructions and box. I haven't had the car on the road , just sitting in parking lot and revving . It seems to be working ok , when i leave off the throttle air def comes out , just no whistle .

 

maybe your just not revving it high enough?? mine usually doesn't make that "whistle" noise until i go over 4k rpms. anything below that, it will just flutter

 

what size turbo? if you are free revving it with a large turbo chances are you arent building any boost, you need to have load on the engine...

exactly. we're not talkin dsm's or wrx's here. you need a load on the engine. you have to actually build some boost in order to blow off, unless your using a really small turbo.

 

sc61 turbo , gsr engine and 3" dp and exhaust
and i revved it pretty high and didn't hear not one thing

 

your not gonna blow off at idle with a sc61. go take it for a drive and build 8 lbs and let off and tell us what happens.

Yeah well the reason i thought it was weird is that it has the 2 valves , the one is for real low boost . And my friend has a t25 turbo on a sohc and a greddy bov and when he just revvs at idle that things woosh's real loud and quick , im just kinda disappointed . I'm not quite ready to go up the road , i still need a laptop to tune me ems and put in my 750's

hmmm t25 vs an sc61... which is gunna spool with very little exhaust gas? The small valve is not gunna work for like .25 psi... just an fyi

 

just like the 2 other posts above, u need a load and build up boost, same thing happend with this other BOV, i kept trying to tell this one guy that it needs to build boost in order to blow off.

hey i'd be sad too if my BOV didnt work in neutral... ohh wait it doesnt, well now i'm sad i am gunna go rip all of it off now thanks D@nny

 

Well i just wanted to make sure this thing wasn't faulty is all . I can deal with it not making noise but being as i have not been able to drive it yet it was rather disappointing to not hear anything on the initial fire up . well thanks for the info and light flaming.

 

Just wait until you go for a drive. You will not be disappointed... HKS makes a great product.
