Default HELP! steering wheel moves back and forth bad!

92 accord 4dr lx the steering wheel moves back and forth no matter what speed you are going it is getting real annoying. I like the car so I put a new steering rack in with new tie rod ends and an alignment, but no change at all. I have new lower ball joints to put in and I think that I am going to buy new upper ones w/ the control arm, but could this do the trick or could it be something else. I really like tha car a lot as my second car so iwould like to get it where I enoy driving it thanx josh

If this condition happens at slow speed, the steering wheel oscillates back and forth and doesn't get worst when you apply the brakes, you most likely have a broken belt in either one or both of the front tires.
This can be spotted with an educated eye and a set of jacks.
Raise the front of the car and let the tires hang.
Start the engine and put it into low/first, let the front wheels spin.
If you've got a broken belt, you'll be treated to some pretty strange tread movements (if often shifts from side to side as the bad spot passes)

that may be it bc the tires arent in the greatest shape on the front and it doesnt get worse with braking so I will check it out. I have never had this problem out of all the cars that I have owned. thanx for the reply

It's best viewed from the front (so make sure the ebrake is set )

Although I'm quite sure that the Great State of Texas doesn't have the pot-hole problems we have in the Northeast, I'm sure there are more than enough parking lot curbs and other obstacles that can cause this.

Good luck

It's a shame to see you may have thrown a lot of money away but I definately agree with P.
