Don't be cheap bro, w/ $5 to $6 you can get a good set up. Tein Basic Coilover set is best, closer to $7 though w/ shipping but comes to you door w/ ready to be installed from the box. Another set up is Ground Conrtols & Koni Yellows if you can spend the extra $50 & custom spring rate GC's. If still to expensive get KYB AGX's. Then if you don't have wheels yet get 15 or 16 inch wheels no bigger than 6.5 to 7 width to get full use out of your supension. Remember if you're gonna do it, do it right. Just search the threads for photos & see what people are doing to their ej1's. Any other questions just holla @ me.
Good Luck, you got a car that has lots of potential.

There is no "best" setup and the Tein basics are just "okay."

If all you want is to lower your car, then those will be fine.

If you want to stay away from a full coil over, check out Tokico (I spelled that wrong) Illuminas or Koni Yellows (expensive). The KYB AGX are nice, but they get REALLY stiff when the temp drops.

You spelled tokico right. For 500 dollars you can get a nice set up. KYB GR-2s aren't adjustable like the agxs but they're only 185 shipped or something on ebay. Then you can get custom ground control springs or a good set of coilovers sleeves for pretty cheap.
