from what i gather on cf hoods is this.. no 2 hoods ar ethe same.. you can get a good and bad hood from anyone. the diff between good companies and bad are the quality control. cheaper hoods have less to no quality control and the bad/throwback hoods sneak out and will eventually make it to the customer. then you have to deal with the vendor who sold it to you to get it sorted out, and usally the vendors dont want any part of it because most people buying car stuff honestly have no business installing it themselves and its almost impossible to pin the blame on someone.
my advice would be buy from someone local so you can see it in person.
i used to sell hoods and id go to the distributor and open and inspect every hood i sold. or 75% of them. it was easier cause i sold a lower amount but the times i didnt check the hood customers would get mad at me cause a hood was the wrong model (packaged wrong in china) or the wood supports that protect the corners broke and caused damage to hood, etc.
so i started visually inspecting every hood. and thats how i come to my conclusion. this is after inspecting hoods from siebon, vis, and china companies which makes 95% of all cf hoods
much appreciated.

leaning towards the seibon hood from a local distrubutor (and the cf hatch as well).
service is great but i told him already that i will not accept the hood if it wasnt to my highest standards.
- it must be perfect fit
- the carbon weave must be straight and nice
- clear coat must be showroom clean and nice/shiney
- not a single damage or stratch at all
- everything must be a 10 out of 10
- abosolutly perfect with not a complaint
... before i pay any cents.

id go look for one local in a shop then. theres usally a flaw somewhere. i think 1 out of 10 hoods is 100% perfect. and thats not taking fitment into considaration, because you cant test fit every hood you sell. sometime they just dont fit right, but you can usally adjust your bumper/fenders to fix any gaps. hood pins help also when trying to get the hood to line up cause you can pull the hood down on each side instead of just in the center which might cause 1 side to lift up and 1 to drop down

honestly, good luck finding a hood then. I've only seen hoods that are 8 and possibly 9 come out of VIS and other mainstream brands.

we'll see what happens and ill update this post.
thanx for all the replies.
i do understand that it is hard to get a aftermarket cf hood that 10 out of 10 for oem fit, but i still try my best to get the most perfect oem fit.
we'll see how it goes......?
(ninja side note: im not talking about spoon or mugen or C-west or Js or some other jdm brand where fitment is 99.9% oem fitment)

i recently got a vis hood and i like it. very good quality. only minor complaints i have is the fitment. the fitment isn't exactly perfect but still is pretty good. it took a little tampering to get the fitment close to perfect. it seems to sit lower towards the bumper. other then that, overall i am happy with the hood.
vis gets a

also, i have a 99-00 civic oem style hood.

I had a VIS on my hatch and it was PERFECT, every body line was exact and perfect. My buddy has a Seibon and his is the same way, excellent fitment, only thing I noticed is my VIS looked to have a better clear on it and held up longer, but my car also sat in the garage all the time. Either brand you can't go wrong.
