VSS its on your tranny, unplug it and clean it with a toothbrush gently and put it back in, try that first.

thanks, do you know where the VSS is exactly?
is it accesible from under the hood or from under the car?
thanks again

look under your hood, directly bleow your throttle body on the back of the transmission.. there will be a 3 wire plug in it.. remove the plug and inspect it..

usually they accumulate water over a period of time (Although they're not supposed to.. ) and the terminals will "rust" and will result in brekage and no VSS signal.. Check to make sure all contacts are clean and in good condition.. if not, you may be replacing the VSS and possibly the plug..

this would be the 9th time I've seen this happen..

Ahhh ill try this tommorow since a lot of coolant fell on it from hoses during the swap. Any chance it could be the Si ECU with GSR into a 97 EK?

seriously doubt it.. Why aren't you running a GSR ECU? Aren't you running IAB's?

If you aren't running a P75, your IAB's won't function. No big deal really. Running a p28 shouldn't affect your speedometer.

In both cases (yours, and the original posters) I would check the VSS
