Quick koni install question...
I was installing my new koni's tonight when I noticed that the strut bumpstops on one of the struts was quite worn. I called autozone (cause that is the only auto parts place in town and there are no honda dealers for ~100+ miles from where I work) and they said that they dont carry the bumpstops. So I went down there of course, cause often they don't know what the hell they are talking about and found these es "shock bushings." Would these work okay? It looks as though they will work, the heights are the same, but the id of the two vary a little bit. The es ones have a slightly larger id than the stock ones. Take a look @ the picts and lemme know what you think. Thanks.

cant you not use stock bumpstops because the konis have a larger shock shaft?
I think you have to enlarge the hole on the stock ones or buy larger ones like the ones you have.
See how they fit on the shaft. If its a smooth fit go for it.

You don't have to enlarge the hole or anything like that. Koni's are only larger where the top hat sleeve & washers go. The honda shock has a taper from 12mm to 10mm up there to stop the washers. The Koni's are 12mm all the way down.

Anyone else with some suggestions on whether or not this is okay to run??

are those poly? they kinda look like theyre energy suspension.
i dont think poly is the right material to make a bump stop out of. you want it to have some compressibility, i dont think poly is designed for that.

es - energy suspension
I wrote "shock bushings" cause that is what it says on the package.

It seems a little small for that, but I'll try to see if it fits that spot later and I'll let you know, thanks.

Of the two, I would use the stock one as it doesn't look bad and is a real bump rubber. Urethane a bad material for bump rubbers becasue it is so hard. You want something that is somewhat soft and compressible to be a cussion and the urethane is more like a hockey puck. It is good that you want some protection there but the urethane is too hard to compress and work right. Just push the stock bump rubbers over the koni rod and go with them.
BTW, I loved the movie your name came from (Usual Suspects). It is one my favorites and made me look for more Kevin Spacey movies.

perhaps youd recognize this then!

Which is more amazing... a location from the movie or a yellow CRX that I have not owned? Okay, yes I will admit that I like a movie with a lesser Baldwin brother but the other actors including including a young Benecio del Toro balance it out.

For some reason I recall reading something about preloading these shocks. Maybe I'm on crack, but it keeps bugging me. I searched everywhere (h-t and a gen google search), but can't find any info on these shocks and the need to preload them. Can anyone tell me if I am just drumming this crap up or where I can find info on what to do. Thanks.
PS - I know that I may just be mistaking this, but would rather look dumb than incorrectly run these shocks. Thanks.

Preload is only an issue with double adjustable coilover shocks (ie: omni, tein, k-sport, etc...). You don't have the option to adjust pre-load with standard type shocks (OEM, Koni, tockico, etc..)...
