what is po7 ecu
you should do some searching but its off a civic vx

Really no need to worry, unless you have a vx or hx it's gonna kill you because your o2 sensor readings will suck, and vtec hits at 3000, and prolly won't hit because of sensor issues and blah blah blah, it also runs on very little gas, if it even runs properly without a 5 wire.

P08 is the stock for that engine,
, get that or a chipped p28 or if you're really screwed for running the car just a p28 and look for one of the first two later.

First of all what D15B do you have? There are 3 different versions: Vtec E, 130hp Vtec, or the Dual Vtec/Vtec E combo. I have seen both P07's and P08's used for the 130hp Vtec version. I have also seen P07's used for the Vtec E version. My VX came with a P06 that runs vtec fine(not chipped but stock).
SVOBOY: I don't know if you have ever rode in an actual VX hatch or not but it depends on the circumstances as to when Vtec is on. When I cruise in my hatch with partial throttle Vtec kicks on as early as 1,800 and runs until redline as long as I am at partial throttle. When I give it full throttle Vtec comes on at 6,000 and shuts off at redline(6,800). It also doesn't run on very little gas unless it is in lean burn mode which is when you are partial throttle. You can smell raw fuel if you crack on it just like any other motor.

I'm not saying your dead wrong here man, but....
a stock P06 with VTEC? ummm, never seen or heard of it. By hondas specs the P06 is a DX ECU without VTEC. Never used in a VX, and never came with VTEC control.
I drove a VX for 5 years, VTEC never kicked in any lower than 2700 and never later than 3500.
The redline you mentioned is also a little higher than it should be for a stock VX.
Are you 100% positive that is a stock P06? either you have a super freak ECU or it's not stock.
You can modify the P06 to have VTEC control and you can drop in maps that are close to the VX maps.
Using a P07 on a D15B that doesn't have the P07 head will cause problems if you drive for long periods. Even if you have the 5-wire O2 (4-wire on the cali-spec) The lean burn mode will certinaly cause EGTs to soar. Way beyond the safe zone.

also to the OP: the P07-A00, P07-A01 and P07-A02 are from the 49 state spec VX. Which requires EGR valve and a 5-wire O2 sensor.
the P07-L00, P07-L01 and P07-L02 are from the cali-spec VX. Which requires EGR valve and a 4-wire O2 sensor but does not use the lean burn mode that the 49 state spec one does.
Little is documented on the cali-spec VX but I'm learning.
The 49 state spec VX has a 3k VTEC point and ~6k redline.
the cali-spec logically has the same settings.

P05 = CX (one wire O2)
P06 = DX (four wire O2)
neither have VTEC control ability.
I have found that some of the P05's have four wire O2 ability though. But it's really rare.

I had one of those in my hands once too. it was a short lived transition ECU from what I can tell.
P09-L00 was a cali-spec CX ECU with one wire O2 and P09-A00 which was an really odd DX ECU with four wire O2.
a bin dump for the P09-L00 is on PGMFI.org.

what is required to make a p06 run vtec and is it possible to add vtec control and chip it the same as a p28 for dohc use maybe obd1 gsr? just curious cause i have one lying around and i also have a p28 too. i will like to do the conversion on the p06 to increase its value to me. any links or info is appreciated thanks

Should be everything you need.

I took apart my P06 and it's not chipped. It is the stock ECU that came with this car. The car redlined at 6,500 with the VX tranny and when I put in an EX tranny it redlined at 6,800? I must have a weird car then. My motor is definately a D15Z1. It has a 5-wire o2 sensor. This car is all stock except I put in a 93 EX tranny with a short shifter, MSD wires, AEM short ram, took the AC off and stripped the back interior out. I beat my buddies 93 SI with I/E/H by 2 and a half cars.
I wish you lived close by so that I could show you the ECU. My car just recently had the timing belt come off and it dropped a valve. I'm going to take the head apart and put new valves in it and pistons if I have to. I will have to get a digital recorder so that I can make a vid of this car. I've also seen AUS P07s for D15B(130hp).
