There is a velocity stack welded to the inside of the GT4088R this is a Full-Race built car and Geoffs GT40 is the same way.

so....they grind down part of the inlet and put that in place to match up to the wheel opening?

why? why not just choose a non-ported cover in the first place?

As far as I know they just have the velocity stack cut to fit without having to cut anything on the housing.

And there is no non-ported comp housing available for the GT4088R.

so...wonder why they didn't extend it out farther...away from the edge of the housing...won't this still create some turbulance?

im not an engineer or something, but that little opening all around the velocity stack CANT be that great for performance, i mean if you wante to make full use of the stack, shouldnt it be sealed, or mated with the opening of the turbo???

just looks like an unfinished product or something

The outer area around the stack needs to be open to take advantage of anti surge compressor housings. The velocity stack cuts down on turbulence, and helps the midrange a bit.

no air goes into the turbo on the outside of the velocity stack.

Hmmm that is pretty interesting. I wonder if there are any gains to be had by doing that. Are they manuf. the velocity stacks in house?

well there are NUMORUS post about non-ported housings making more power than ported....so i guess that's pretty much the goal of this...so, yeah...i think there might be some gains to be had. pretty cool stuff

I believe this eliminates any downside to running a slotted anti-surge cover. Cuts down on air flow turbulance.
