Default BUBBLES in my fuel.. (return line)

OK, i figured the drag racing guys would be able to answer this question since you guys are most likely to be switching gas and paying more attention to this type of stuff.

so I have old gas in my gas tank.. The cleanest way to drain the tank was to buy some cheap clear house, attach it to my fuel regulator (return) and pump the gas into a gas can by jumpering the fuel pump.

So I do this and notice a large amount of very small bubbles in my fuel and a funky hissing sound coming from my regulator.

I'm assuming this is NOT normal, but I thought I'd ask first before I starting replacing parts. And no, There is NO gas leaking anywhere.
