civic si 99 (acura EL here in Canada...exactly the same has Canadian Civic si 99 1.6 liter SOHC VTEC 127hp)

The CEL is on... Alwredy erase it once but did come back after. I'm wondering if there is something I should check before changing it? Next question is will this cause damage if not replacing it? What kind of issue should I expect later on?

its probably gonna need replacing very soon. You will have shitty gas mileage if it is going out on you

 

just replace the o2 sensor.... I've never experienced any hurt in performance, but just like hatchi mentioned you will see a signifcant decrease in your gas mileage.

Can I go with an aftermarket or do it really need the OE?

 

I've used aftermarket without issues...
