i remove the brake master and push it over the intake manifold slightly and then pull the alternator up where the brake master was. my prefered method as i dont have to jack the car up or snake it out.

SAVE YOURSELF THE TROUBLE AND THE TIME GOING THROUGH THE TOP. Do this jack up your car, remove the oilfilter. place something in the bottom so it won't spill all over the floor. Barely any oil will flow out anyway. Once you removed that. Unbolt the all bolts and belt holding the alternator in place. Then simply turn it until it finds is way out. I did this to mine and save a whole lot money switching to GEICO, lol. any questions?.....just ask.

You take it out from the bottom. All you do is loosen the alternator to get to the mounting bracket bolts. You remove the mounting bracket that bolts to the block and that gives enough room to drop the alternator out. It's really simple.

Well, finally got the old alternator out, and the new one in. Now the only thing holding me back is getting the new one in the brackets. Right now it's being a bitch and not fitting, so I'm thinking that I'll have to file it down or something. Anyone else got any ideas?????????

sometimes the new ones have the steel bushing that you have to squeeze out the way w/ vise grips because it interferes. hard to explain

You've already done it, but maybe next time you could do it the easy way

Wheel well lining and tire removed, alt. ready to make its ascension
