I just finished my turbo install -- took a couple of years, as I had to fabricate a shitload of parts. It's a t25, with an air to water setup.
I have a d16a6, stock internals. Engine ran fine before I started the install, and I did not crack open the engine at all to finish the install.
When I started the car, I got a squeal that sounded like a slipping alternator belt, so I immediately switched off the engine. Probably ran 5 seconds.
When I went under the hood, there was a light wisp of smoke, but from the left side of the engine (opposite side from the alternator). I checked the oil 4-5 times, it's full on the dipstick.
My list of possibilities:
1) It was the alternator belt, I'm seeing things...
2) Turbo got starved for oil
3) I didn't have any coolant in the system for this test -- maybe coolant pump?
4) Spun bearing -- I think this is unlikely...
Any other possibilities I should check for before I key on again?
