Default h22 in 93 eg civic (vtech problems)

i know im probley going to take a lot of rap for not reasearching this topic but i stumbled upon a guy whose selling a hatch with an h22 swap for 3 gs. now he says that it runs really good, but second stage vtech is not kicking in. anyone no why this would be happening, and is it an easy fix or a real pain in the ***
again sorry for not reasearching but i ive seen h22 swaps in hatchs going for like 6k and if this is an easy fix, then this is a steal

thanks

He probably doesn't have the sensors if he hasn't hooked them up. They will be expensive to get, but wont cost you $3k.

for the H22, there is vtec, and there are the IAB's (secondary butterflies in the intake manifold). He's probably talking about the IAB's, which are wide open when left unhooked. H22's do not have 2 stages of vtec.

I agree, I have heard people describe their IABs as a second vtec not knowing they had iabs and that's what they feel like.

the only staged vtec system i know of is on the JDM D15B 3 stage vtec system, for gas mileage purposes. Here are some links explaining it:
http://asia.vtec.net/article/d15b/
http://www.leecao.com/honda/vtec/3stagevtec.html
But i am postive the h22 only has one vtec engagement point and secondary butterflies that open in the i/m. So you will be without secondarys, so just get a skunk 2 intake manifold or something and a chipped p13 to do away with the secondarys.

thanks for all the responses. not having the sensors hookd up, would it hurt the engine to drive it daily? and would it pass va state inspection?
