Default How much for labor on a auto-manual conversion????

I got a wrecked 97 teg GS (frame bent) with a fully running 2001 GSR motor and trans in it.

My car is also a 97 GS, but with a automatic.

SOOO... I have both cars, and i got a hasport conversion mount... but I'm hesitent to attack such a project b/c i really cant risk any long downtimes....

How much can I expect a mechanic to charge for the swap as a side job? Gotta swap both the motor and trans, and convert my auto to a stick... I know it'll be hard to find someone to do it beacausec its gonna be a pain in the ***, but any ballpark figures would help.

I have a garage to do it in, and im pretty sure i have all the tools ill need. Plus my friend and I will help with the swap

also, I live in union county in jersey, so if anyone knows a shop around that'll do it, let me know

I just did a auto to manuel conversion last week. It wasn't that tough. Just time consuming. Took me and a friend about 12 hours. Start to finish.

I had the Conversion done on my Civic a couple ears ago and it cost me 400$ and I supplied the parts.... Then I got my 95 4dr Ls Teg and decided to do it on my own took me one weekend... I say if you have all the parts and a week and the knowledge of working on cars I say go for it.... Also having a Manual wouldnt hurt either

1000 is way to much for me. If i could find a mechanic to help for a few hundred, that'd be cool. Otherwise i'll just give it a shot. between this site and the manuals i have, it shouldnt be too bad. Thanks for the input

It IS time consuming. Just make sure you have all the parts! And I dunno how much a mechanic would charge, its not realy something they see everyday. Maybe call a couple places and explain your situation!

OR look up the write ups on HT and tackle it yourself! If you feel you have the ability and knowlege.
