I don't know if some has ever discussed this before and I even tried a search, but I was wondering is it leagl to do the auto to manual swap here in California??? I'm planning to do the swap to my 98 integra because I want more power because I am going to be boosting later this year. Those who did the conversion in kali, what did u do after the swap? any legal issues that need to be done in order for it to be legal??? HELP!!!!! Im really looking into doing the conversion because my friend knows how to di it!!!!

it is not illegal at all. i dont see any reasons it could be for and good luck on the swap, its fun.

 

should be fine, they sell 5speeds lol. if its a problem just dont tell DMV, the cops will have no idea. would just look like a nother 5 speed to them

i don't think it's worth it in your 98.
cost of parts + labor + reliability issues = not worth the hassel
sell your auto and get a manual car,

 

its just a lot easier to start with a manual car IMO.. but if you are bent on doing it, go ahead. I dont think there are any legal implications to swapping over to 5 spd, you would have to notify the DMV, and your insurance.
