04 Aftermarket Header rattling
Got the new DC Sport 4-2-1 ceramic header put on today. I didn't do it myself since I don't have the necessary requirements, but it was done by a custom shop run by ex-Honda/Acura techs who have done most of my work so far. When it was done, I went and took it for a test drive. It was making a rattling sound, just below me, a separate noise itself from the exhaust tone. It seemed like something to do with the header->cat hookup. It only happens above 2.5k RPMs or so. When I was at the Honda shop, they thought it might be a loose gasket, so I'll check it out soon. Any thoughts?
Another weird thing. I know for a fact on my auto that my rev limiter is set at 6.5k RPMs which is redline. So today, on my way home, just for giggles, I took it out on my street and ran it up through 2 gears "manually". Through first, I blew right through my rev limiter and hit 7.5k RPMs. It shocked me so much, and I knew it wasn't an anomally because I lost traction in the shift, which never happens (and headers cant add enough power to do that lol). Any comments on that either?

We have arrived at the correct answer. just have them wrap the heat shield with a steel band and problem solved.

Ok, talked to them on the phone, taking it into tomorrow to get that done. I had a friend rev it for me and I KNEW it was coming from the header/cat area.
Any comments on blowing thru the rev limiter?

it may have cut fuel, but i definetely felt/noticed that i was going thru redline, which i've never done before. I tried doing it again, couldn't do it, must have been a momentary problem with the ECU.

They probably busted something loose when they let the exhaust hang.
It's time for a couple of Super-sized worm style Hose Clamps...
