msd 6al rev limiter chips
the msd 6al comes with pre-chipped rev limiters at 5k, 6k, 7k and 8k...which is obviously way lower than the stock limiter at 8900 on Gs-r's. Will not running a chip in the 6al allow the motor to retain the stock limiter?

the stock rev limiter will still be there unless you chip the ecu. THe MSD is a spark cut style limiter, which cuts the ignition out. the stock style is a fuel cut style, which cuts the fuel out. MSD makes a dial adjustable module you can plug in and adjust your limiter by turning a ****.
i got the msd full ignition as a deal, however i've been hearing there are a lot of problem
that come with it and stock ignition is good enough...so far so good there are no problems. i just hate how the highest chip is 8k...and i don't want to pull that chip and eliminate the stock limiter and consequently blowing my motor from over rev

you can make your own custom rev limit chips for really cheap... all they are, are a resistor you can buy at radio shack. I use to have a formula to figure out what resitance for what rpm but i made all my chips and have no more use for it.

Just because the stock igntion can handle over 500hp doesn't mean you shouldnt upgrade. Stock honda motors can handle a turbo but people still build them up to be safe.
