Default cat differences...

Ok, my car is civic ex ej1 -95.

now it has Engine B16A (sir2).

Does all 92-95 civics have the same cat?

Then what about 96-00? same as 92-95?

I'm having problems with smog, what would be the best cat in my situation?

i believe that the obd 2 cars have a diff cat. i think that the cat on the vtec cars from 92-00 is in the same location so it should fit either cat, but dont take my word for it. as far as which would be the best i would def go with a oem one if your having smog problems.

the differance in obd1 and obd2 cat is the length, im not sure which is longer, but either should work fine.

It's longer for a reason, to compensate for mass air flow through the screen. I don't know what a shorter SOHC designed cat will do with a DOHC pushing more that a SOHC emmissions.

just get yourself an SIR cat (99-00) and done with it. That is the oem cat made for the motor. Check on your local Honda club sites for someone trying to sell one used. As long as you can see light through the material in the cat it's good.
