Guys LSVTEC or Ls/Turbo??
Hey i got a 1996 Teggy ls i believe maybe rs no power door locks no sun roof. So far got DC catback and a normal like r1 short ram intake (cause i bought the car without any air filter what so ever so i put cheapy intake on to save my gas). Anyway what can i do guys? ls/turbo i heard is a good setup but im scured of turboing my teggy also i got a plug for ls/vtec. what Hp ratio does ls/vtec put out to the crank and the wheels? also how do u all feel about lsvtec im almost certain i wanna go that route. Also what head would u recommend? and gsr head gasket with vtec controller also? explain guys help me out hehe
if ur going go stock turbo, i reccomend going lsvtec. i have gone turbo'd with one of my integra's.. wasnt too suprised..
U have many ?'s here. go with the gsr head, it's higher compression, though the b16 may flow better. vtec controller is not necessary, if u are running a chipped ecu..

b16 heads are better than gsr heads for ls/vtec. and bore out your block and sleeve it get good compression piston and good connectoin rods, ls block isnt good for high rpms. then i would get ctr cams the intake cam has a higher lift than a type-r intake cam so ctr>itr . then get type-r valve springs and retainers and valves and lost motion assembly. then if you want a new water pump get a gsr or type-r water pump. then depending on what water pump you get a new timing belt so if you get a vtec water pump then get a vtec timing belt. alos you may need a new fuel pump but i would also get gsr or type-r oil pump. transmison wise i would get gsr or type-r with a gsr 5th gear . some wil tell you to get a b16 tranny they are good for like drivin around town because of the shorter gears but on the highway you will one get bad gas milage but you will also get smoked by a gsr. then after this i would turbo it but if you do dont get high compression pistons. i dont thnk any of this made anysense. i apologize if it doenst. but this was just my .02
seems like you have a lot of questions about lsvtec and ls turbo.. if you search the forums, there is A LOT of information and opinions about these two topics as well as setups and dyno numbers..
WTF is HP ratio?
Man everyone started off where you are right now, first you need to research.
Depends on how much money you have to spend, your hp goals, and alot of other things, you could go with a big turbo, a small one... but here are a few things right off.
Turbo = Expensive = Tonnes of power
LS/Vtec = Cheaper = way less power
and depending if you want someone to professionally install and or tune these things, they could be unreliable...

yeah if anything i would go ls turbo.Money should not be an issue if your talking about either one of these.its not cheap to be fast. I had Ls Vtec and it ran ok, but its not a huge power gain.It all depends on how you do it.Ls turbo is better in my eyes, but you should do the research before picking one.
I am building an ls/vtec and its a bitch due to my main crank puey not coming off.A stock ls/vtec should put 160 to the ground. But there are people making tons of power on bone stock ls motors.Id turbo it and maybe a little head work on the ls to get flow uo there.
Dude.. Ls/Vtech, then Turbo is definately the best way to go.. All my friends that tried to go stock ls turbo found themselves with a lot of troubles that are WAY more expensive to fix than just doin the vtech conversion and then turboing...

lol .. how can Two things be cheaper then One thing?
You have to do More work on a ls/vtec for it to be reliable,
compared to low boost on a stock ls.
Doing an Ls/Vtec the Right way will be close to as much if you pieced together a turbo setup.
And you'd still be making more hp with the turbo.
If you went ls/vtec, and turbo, you'd have to build it pretty good,
Or you could just run lower boost on a stock ls, and build it up later for more boost.
And sure you could probably just throw some ls/vtec together with a turbo or not,
get lucky and not have it go for a while, Or it could have something wrong with it easy.

do you know what the hell you're saying? dont mislead people if you dont know something. first off, turbo will always be a headache on a N/A car and second of all, LS/VTEC conversion is even a bigger headache..... and just for the record, its VTEC not vtecH. so if you're going to spend a lot of time and money doing LS/vtec conversion and then turboing.....you're asking for trouble, especially if you dont know what the hell you're doing
also, buying a cheap intake will not save you gas (just for the record)
