Default moter wants to die when started

first off this is a ctr moter, but i figured its close enouf to itr moters to ask in this forum, anyway when i cold start the car it dies if i don't give it a little gas, this only lasts for around ten seconds then it idles around 1500 rpm for maybe 20 seconds then it idles at 900 rpm. this doesn't happen when started warm. what could cause this problem?

i was trying to figure this out myself.
i found my IACV wasn't routed correctly. make sure your fast idle control valve(if you have one)
and your idle air control valve have coolant going through them.

anyone else have ideas?

just wanted to check with all of you guys, it's perfectly normal to have 1500 rpm from cold start ups, then dipping back down to 800-900 rpm range right?? i saw a thread a few weeks back about cold start ups but couldn't remember if it was normal or not
