Shifting gear is not smooth after new clutch kit.

Shifting gear is not smooth after new clutch kit.
After putting in a new clutch kit and skunk 2 dual bend short shifter w/ poly bushing, there seem to be some resistent or a little binding when shifting into gears. Especially 1st gear. I just thought it should be a little smoother. Is this normal? If not, is there a way to correct this?
BTW, I also got my tranny replaced.
Any help will be thankful.
