2006 s2000, sixth gear slips back to neutral while driving
Bought my 2006 S2000 a few months ago and have been having this problem quite frequently (sorry if my description is not clear):
Driving at about 75mph at sixth gear in clear weather and good road condition when suddenly the gear slipped back to neutral. My hand was nowhere near the stick shift and my foot was not touching the clutch pedal at all.
It gets very annoying especially when the car is at cruise-control because the engine will then spin faster to compensate and of course it is not going anywhere. Also, when this happens, people around me think I am crazy or something.
The other five gears don't have the same problem.
Has anybody encountered this problem before? I have been going through the postings in various newsgroups but it seems that this is an uncommon problem. Any suggestion on what I should do? Thanks.

From my past experience of my integra, if the trans oil is very low, it will definitely do that. Try to check your trans oil level and see if they are good. If not, then add some and it should not do that at all.

Even if they duplicate it they will probably say it is normal like they do for the constant gear grind between 1st and 2nd</TD></TR></TABLE>
Then you need to find a different dealership.

Thanks for the replies.
I never had any problem going in reverse. (But if I do enough of it, it might just have the same problem.)
The bad syncro sounds like a possibility (based on what I read on symptoms of bad syncro) so I may have to follow up with a dealer's appointment.
I haven't had a chance to check on the transmission fluid level but I should try that next.
My experience with Honda dealers in San Diego (I am living there) has not been great so I am reluctant to have them open things up unless it is absolutely necessary. More often than not, they will find something wrong with my cars. After I stopped taking my cars in for maintenance, I stopped having problems. Maybe because I look mechanically-challenged (well, I am). Well, anyway, I will post my result. Thanks for the tips.

Just want to give an update on the situation.
The transmission oil fluid is fine. Additionally, the dealer needs to be able to reproduce the problem or they won't do anything. Unfortunately they were not able to. I figured when it gets worse at least the dealer will have it on their record that I have tried to address the issue. So, that's the conclusion of the story for now. Thanks, all!
