only happens when it rains
My engine won't start after a rain storm. I have to crank it over 10 -15 times it seems before it with turn over. Then after it does it "puts" for a 5-10 seconds before reaching startup idle. I actually sometimes have to press the throttle to keep it from stauling. I have a '95 eg coupe with a '95 b18b in it. It has a full crower head, i/h/e, MSD ignition, distributor and blaster coil. Does anyone have any ideas as to what this could be? Again this only happens after it sits in the rain for a good while. Thanks for viewing this.
Yes, I do notice water under the hood afterwards. No, I don't have a CAI, just short tube. Only other engine/tranny mods are unorthodox pulley and exedy stage 1 clutch. The header is DC and exhaust is Thermal. My cat is stock but I "punched" it out (which I wish I hadn't done).
water is probably getting on the ignition or in the distributor. the best way to fix this problem is to seal up the hood where it leaks . run water over it while its dry to see where the water is coming inside the bay from and go from there . thats my best guess as to why it wont start
sounds like your air filter might be getting soaked with water. thats probably why it is running rough at first and then it smooths out because it sucks out the water within 10-15 seconds check the gasket where the hood meets the firewall
The humidity may be gettin into one of the sensors and causing it not to function. I had this once with my friends car. His problem was the horn relay. His horn would start beepin in the middle of rainstorm with noone in it. The humidity would get in from a slight crack and cross the contact pts.
