What does water under the hood damage first usually?
I ran into a water problem where my car was detailed and water was sprayed under the hood quite a bit. I can't say that's the problem, but the car didnt start the day after that happened. I have an h22 in a 92SI that has a custom turbo kit. I inspected the dizzy cap and found the posts a little corroded so i cleaned them along with the rotors edge. I have a Distributor King replacement dizzy and there is no screw for the rotor, so I cant check behind the cover to make sure things arent corroded. Whats up with that? Car still sounds like it wants to turn over, but nothing. What are the basic things to check when you are dealing with water sprayed everywhere under the hood? BTW-the turbo compressor was covered and the blow off valve and basic stuff was wrapped.
Nothing looks like stagnent water was sitting for periods of time. just a quick spray and whipe down, but this may not even be the cause of the car not wanting to start

Just a slight spray-- almost always the distributor. Wife's stock Civic would spit and sputter everytime it rained. Had to pull the distributor off and hit it with the hair dryer to dry it out.

Seriously? I have a vented fiberglass hood, Invader style ****, and Ive never once had a problem with my car not starting or whatever and I wash it weekly
One of the holes dropps right down beside the dizzy and ontop of the valve cover
I wash my car at the wash station every week for 8 min
Wonder why Ive never had a problem

Did you check under the plug wires? I.e the location where the wires and plugs connect.
That's what caused my GSR to die/not start back in the day.

That is where it always affects my car. I don't have a dizzy, but sometimes when it rains the car would run like crap. Found out water was collecting down in the spark plug hole, just enough that the spark would arc through it instead of the plug. Fixed the problem with a better set of plug wires that sealed against the head better.
