Fidanza Halfshaft Review
This is review mainly for the installation, quality and fitment of Fidanza's new cv shafts. I have not had enough time (or power
) to drive with them in to give you an accurate assessment of their gain over stock units. Fidanza started making cv shafts awhile ago but recently changed manufactures. Fidanza basically decides the specifications they want their cv shafts to be and has another manufacturer make them. I bought their cv shafts right after they hit the shelves and had some trouble with installation compared to the stock units. I had to fiddle with the set ring as well as file a little bit to get them to fit. After having them in for about a 2 months I broke the passenger side axle off where it meets the outer joint. Needless to say I was not happy. I called Jeff at Fidanza and he agreed to send me a new cv shaft. After I received the new shaft I tried to install it with no luck. The splines were correct but when I mic'ed the end it came out to be a few thousands larger than the stock unit. I called Fidanza again and they sent me another new cv shaft but it too had the same problem. I called them back again and they told me that I wasn't the only one who was having these types of problems. Jeff said that they were going to be changing manufactures and as soon as they got them in he would send me 2 new cv shafts. I received the new units about 9 months after I talked to him but I think it was well worth the wait. The new cv shafts appear to much higher in quality compared to their previous model. Fitment on them was exceptional. I could not find my micrometer to measure the shaft diameter but it appears to be the same as OE. So far I have been very happy with their performance. No weird noises and no breakage.
I hope this helps some of you turbo guys in deciding what type of cv shafts to run should you decide they are necessary. I am not vouching for Fidanza. I am just stating my experience with the company and there product. Below is a pic of OE vs. Old Fidanza vs. New Fidanza from top to bottom.

Both the stock units and Fidanza units weighed in at 15lbs per side. Weighing was done on a bathroom scale so numbers maybe a little inaccurate but regardless they weighed the same. They are rated for 300whp as stated by Fidanza. They cost about $500 for both sides. Im not sure about the the Genuine Honda re-man'd units but i know they are significantly more than the remans you could pick up at advance auto parts for example.
