Default Accelerator Reset - Pedal is slow/sluggish to return to home (how to lube?)

After a few hours on the highway, I come back, park, and my car is stuck at 2000 rpm (neutral), and I'm wondering what the heck is going on with my idle. I hit the accelerator, goes to 3k, then back down to two... what the? Put my foot under the pedal, pull up, and it's down to 900 idle (fine)... did a few more tests, get stuck around 1500, then pressed again came down, always the pedal reset.

How do I smooth up the pedal return? Is there a return spring or pressure piece?

Thanks gents,

p3

yes there is a spring that pulls it back up, look under there and see if it fell off

Going right now. If it's just weak I guess I can ask Honda for an OE Replacement.

Checked it, looks original but still connected... maybe I'll price the part tomorrow.

Clean the inside of your throttle body, its probably all gunked up. If you can, get some kind of air induction service for your car. They help alot on higher mileage cars....

Spring is taught, not saggy at all, but a new one may be even stronger, as this one is 16 years old. PP, how do I clean the throttle body correctly? I will check the Haynes as well on that one. Also, who would perform, and what is air induction service?

Thank you gents,

p3

[last night on the way to the supermarket it didn't do it at all, but still, I shouldn't pretend the problem is resolved]

I just tried this stuff from Amsoil called "Powerfoam". You spray it directly into your throttle body with the engine running. It cleans the manifold and runners and ports and all that good stuff. Basicly its like GM's top end cleaner...
Any autoparts store should have something to this nature. Just tell them you need some throttle body cleaner, they should now exactly what you need...
