i have a h22 eg hatch and my vtec has a mind of its own, it works when it wants, sometimes it will only crack in first gear then stop working, if i turn off my car and turn it back on it works fine again but only for one gear, i am throwing top dead center check engine code, and o2 can someone help me out
i dont know im just think maybe possibly out of the blue i know but just maybe it might have something to do with the codes your throwing you think about that?? Go adjust your distributor with your cam gears until it is TDC and check your crankshaft pulley that just maybe might help and im pretty sure replacing your o2 might help some too if not in the VTEC area just maybe the gas mileage area. Cmon now dude think if your throwing codes fix em and then if VTEC's not working than you have a legitimate issue.

i am positive that vtec is not kicking in because i have headers intake and exhaust with 2 1/2 piping all the way back and i can hear when vtec engages

thanks!!
thanks!!
i dont know if anyone said where that TDC sensor is, but if i remember right that is in your distributor. My friend had a SI civic and that code came on. he had to replace his whole distributor, because you cant just buy that sensor. COuld be wrong, but that is what fixed his car. As for the O2 sensor, replace it, or try checking the connection. NOt sure and not 100% sure if im right anyways. good luck
