I just got my crx on the road today. It has a DOHC ZC engine with CAI and header. I was driving it around and i looked down at the temp gauge and it was almost on the H. I wasnt driving it hard either, and when it sits and idles for like 5 minutes it will heat up again. It has a new thermostat and a new radiator cap but for some reason it doesnt seem to be circulating the antifreeze. What can I do to fix it??

 

Might be the fan or might need to "burp" the system

 

could be the water pump. if the sdystem is bell of air, and you dont have the thermostat in backwards and the fan is turning on, then its the water pump. there should be a bleed screw near the thermostat housing on the block..

 

I just went through coolin system hell and it turned out to be the waterpump...
A few questions,...
Is anything leaking or coolant disappearing?
Does the top hose feel hot while the lower one feels cool?
Have you flushed the system before?
If the cap and thermostat are known good, and the radiator has cold outlet, its most likely the waterpump not circulating enough coolant.
The fins deteriorate and turn into rust.

 

Was your DOHC ZC fine before when you put it in? If so, I think the fan isn't working. My fan works with a switch and one time I forgot it to turn it on, than it overheated fast.

 

nothing is leaking, except the one night I drove it home becuase the alt. belt went, antifreeze was leaking over the overflow tank, I was running it pretty hard on the way home so...
I have flushed the system before, whenever i got the car, that is when i put a new thermostat in it.
The fan only ever kicked on by itself twice, so I dont know.
Should I even drive the car or should I just get a new waterpump? because whenever I took the radiator cap off when it was running the antifreeze was just chillin in the radiator and not circulating.
What waterpump do I get for the DOHC ZC?
