somebody help...i just spent 3 hrs switching everything over for the jdm door conversion but realized that my key will not work now. could anyone give some poiners for an easy way to remove the door handle? tutorial? anything....please. TIA

 

You pull the door liner, disconnect the lock rods from the handle, unplug the harness leading to the door handle, remove the 2 10 mm bolts, and remove the handle. The lock cylinders are easily swapped by removing a spring clip. I do not know if that can be performed with the handle mounted in the door.

 

search topics "rear sedan door handle" or something like that, I did a DIY on how to do this.

You did an entire "JDM door conversion", but you can't figure out how to get the door handle off? Have you even removed the inner door panel and looked? It's very self explanatory.

If you want to remove the locking cylinder, you will need C-clip pliers, or steady hands and lots of patience.

 

yes, i did an entire jdm door conversion...of course i had to take off the panel and of course i looked. Have you done this before?? It is not self explanatory. I unscrewed the two bolts and unhooked the rod that unlocks the door, but i cannot get the rod off that "pops" the latch.

 

whats the difference in JDM doors? just lighter and less safe?

Search made topics by me. I did a DIY on how to remove the door handles. And i too have a DB, and Type R door panels.

 

The top prob will be tight...spray some WD-40 there and let it sit. Then take a larger screw driver and pry between the rod and the handle and it will begin move.
