WA state ITR owners
i was just wondering if any of you had to test for emissions. i was told that they pretty much only check for check engine light...is that true? problem is, my check engine light is currently on, and i think it is because of my carsound cat. is there any way to get rid of the light? my current engine mods are comptech icebox, spoon 4-2-1, carsound cat, and fujitsubo rm01 if that info helps. any info is appreciated. thanks so much.
UPDATE
so i go and get my emissions checked, and they said they were unable to test the vehicle even after i told them i hadnt worked on the car or disconnected the battery. they said i have 2 problems, and that in WA state only you can only have 1 problem or something like that. and my 2 problems are the catalyst and evaporator hose or something? well anyway i was wondering if any of you guys could give me advice on how to pass emissions w/o changing the cat. thanks.

When I got mine checked, they didn't hook up the sniffer. They just hooked up the OBD-II code reader. The easy fix is to just put the cat back on to get the code out. It doesn't matter if you have any mods; just as long as you pass.
Just don't go to the station on Aurora Ave in North Seattle. The lines are fuggin long. I went to the one in Lynnwood which is near the intersection of 196th/Hwy 99 and it was a breeze.
I miss WA
but I don't miss the crime

i tried doing that, stopped at starbucks on Hwy 99 north seattle, resetted my ECU and when i got there, they asked me if i had wokrd on the car less than 50 miles. i said maybe and they said i needed to come back after 50-60 miles.
their computer wasnt reading my ecu since i just resetted it.
you gotta have 50-60 miles on the ecu after ressetting it.

And therein lies your problem. (Pun intended?)
Just say no!

pull up the codes yourself and see what you're throwing. in the unlikely chance it's not from your exhaust, depending on what the cel is (if not emissions related), they will let you pass.

Doesn't the Carsound cat eliminate the secondary O2? That would be the CEL.
And why would say maybe? LOL...
I have a one hell of a conscience but you just can't lie...lol
Good for you, though...I like people like that...Makes me feel comfortable.

replace cat, retake emissions test. that's what i did. i failed automatically the first time because of the CEL light. regardless, if you indeed are throwing a code 67, change your cat and you will be fine.

if indeed it is 67 and your Carsound cat is still in good shape, leave everything the way it is. you can usually go to any Honda/Acura dealership to have them bypass that code for you. changing out cats just for an emmisions test is a pain in the ***
note: seems like once a year or so the secondary O2 code will come on. from there i just go get it bypassed again. just make sure that's indeed the code

thanks guys. just so u guys know for future reference, i had to remove both the ecu fuse and the backup fuse to get rid of the check engine light. now hopefully ill be able to pass emissions.
hrm. if you're throwing codes for evap and cat, want to pass and not switch the cat... fix your evap maybe? heh.
why not just put a stock cat on for the test?
why not just put a stock cat on for the test?
if it comes down to putting the stock cat back on, then thats what ill do, but id prefer passing it without changing cats. how would i go about fixing the evaporator hose?
and JUN.R
can i really just go to dealership to have them bypass the code and go have my emissions checked and it will pass?

the CEL is from code 67, and thats because of the carsound. but what im trying to say is that i would rather not swap out the cat just to pass emissions, and was wondering if any of you had an idea?

im not really complaining
im just asking if anybody knew of an easier method to get by emissions...

even if i said no, the ecu doesnt lie.
their system will not be able to read the ecu if it was resetted before those miles and thats why they asked

switching cats if everythign fits is not that hard... even switching your exhaust...
that's how i passed. my o2-less test pipe was not gonna help me pass.
