Default Need help identifying (ID'ing) tranny *PICS*

Posted this in Integra Forum but figured I'd do it in here as well since someone else may know something else...

--------------------
Alright I know there are a few tranny gurus on here and I need your help. I have in my possession an OBD2 tranny but I have no idea if its an LS or GSR. I also have another B-series tranny that I know for sure that it is a GSR tranny and have opened up a while back.

The two trannies look almost exactly the same. The same number of teeth on the differentials and it appears that they have almost the same gears etc. I've gone through the helms and the only difference that I did notice was that in the GSR tranny that I know for a fact has a gold colored washer on the reverse ideal (as specified in the Helms book for a 94 gsr the same year the tranny came from), and the unknown tranny doesnt have the gold colored washer. My question is that did the OBD2 GSR tranny's come with the gold colored washer or did they not? Everything else appears to be the same... same shims with race shims etc... Any help would be great such as anything that distinctly disinguishes the two.

Also where the heck is the pinion and ring gears??

The ring gear is bolted to the diff and the pinion gear is on the tranny shaft next to it.If the tooth count is the same then the other tranny is not a LS.

they both look like gsr to me. you don't really have any good shots to identify the 1-5. take a picture or compare the line codes at the end of the teeth which wrap around the entire gear...look close and you'll see what i'm talking about. compare those teeth codes. and just take a couple seconds to count a few sets of teeth like for the 4th and 5th gear sets. count them all if you want to make sure you don't have a hybrid which is very possible if it looks like the original seal was overdone.

How about the double cone synchro on second gear? A non-GS-R/ITR will not have a dual-synchro on the 2nd gear.
