Default Ahh, having a fresh rear motor mount put in is the greatest

1994 honda accord ex 100k miles.
I swapped out my cracked front motor mount couple months ago myself. It helped, but still a good amount of engine moving on deccerleration or fast clutch in. I had the timing belt done (all belts/seals/pump etc) and asked for the motor mount installtion. All OEM. MAN, what a freaking difference. No engine rocking when coasting at 2k rpm in 3rd or 2nd gear..... Now i want to do the side mounts for the hell of it. There is a slight movement still, but nothing severe like before and Im sure the side mounts can use a swap after 12 yrs. The engine jack-hammering when the clutch is cold and getting off 1st gear is gone too. Good stuff, the car rides extremely well now for a 12 yr old car. Hopefully it will last another 50k miles without major issues.

You're lucky you never went thru a broken rear mount on '89 and earlier Accords (auto). The engine shook so bad at idle that things actually started falling off the car.

There's a lot to be said for a smooth idle, and a well secured engine; but it can also be said it's a pretty interesting effect under heavy vibration to look over and think you're seeing your wife with more than two mammalian protuberances.
You just don't know where to start, man.

Does the driver's side mount hold the engine while engaging clutch and cause some wheel hop when worn out in addition to hard shifting into first when idle? What are the symptons of driver's side failure vs passenger side (tranny) mount failure?

I believe wheel hop, as far as mounts go, are due to the main support mounts for movement which are the front and rear mounts.

The answer is yes, Hondas last for ever!!!

My motor mounts have small cracks... I think all of them.... but I don't feel anything wrong with them yet... the mechanic told me they are still good for now when we installed my new clutch.
How much is all 4 motor mounts for a F22B1 for 97 accord with 5sp?? ...I was just wondering...?

You can do price look up:
http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com/

As for labor, ask your mechanic. I was charged 1hr for the rear which is the hardest of them all. The other three I can do myself.

I know, my wife's '89 LXi got so bad that the front Bumper Cover started breaking loose and the hood prop rod fell to the ground one day! Frak, the &^*% thing vibrated almost as bad as an AMC Harley.
For grins, on day I took tape measure in hand and measured the range the steering wheel was shaking. I swear it was at least 3/4 of an inch, if not more.

"Frak"? Been watching Battlestar Galatica?

My '88's bumper shook enough that the fog lights broke off...

Geez, and I thought I'd get it for the AMC Harley comment (LOL)

Hey, It's either BSG (arguably the best) or the 240th rerun of Law & Disorder!

It's a night-n-day kinda thing. Believe me, putting money into an 16 year old Daily Driver didn't seem to have much of an allure, but it's still running today.
Go Figure.....
