Default he thought he was sneaky.....

my car is currently inthe shop. i have a 96 ek with a jdm h22 i took it to get it swapped in and i went today to get it out and i saw that he switched my block with a h23a1. I knew that in my block one of my cylinder walls were messed up dueto a bent rod. should i get mad at him and tell him to put my old one back or should i just keep the h23a1 in?

nobody should have done anything to your car without notifying you. i'd be pissed and not trust him anymore.

that should be a great running engine if its put together right but I agree he still should have notified you that he was gonna change out a whole block for real. Another thing is who knows if there is anything wrong with the h23 block/internals I myself would speak up

u got punked.... simple as that. if ur scared than let him get away with it.
p.s. he doesnt need to be sneaky if your wondering if you should get what rightful belongs to you back, be a man and take what is yours back.

well if he changed it out for your good due to a thin cylinder wall problem, id be thankful... but if he really dicked you on purpose, take some action.

Most people that do things as a favor (i.e. putting your head on different block because of a problem) would let you know that they are doing it, better yet they would ask your permission. Especially if they're a licensed shop. I'd call him on it make sure he knows your not gonna put up with his sh*t, see how he replies/reacts.

Don't let him punk you, even if he was trying to do you a "favor."

Sounds like you'll be losing something, then. 40hp is quite a bit.

So did you take your car in to fix the bent rod?...and this guy decides to swap the block without your permission? I say thats pretty lame...

Id deff speak up about it dude, dont let him **** you like that... Im pretty sure the h22a block would be better in the long run

if he just swapped the block and put the h23 head on there i would be happy you'll make more torque and should have 200hp+ anyways if you use the right tune

you're going around in circles. first, you need to ask him why he did what he did. if he tries to explain that he did it only in your favor, ask him why he did not notify you about it. i would not trust him to touch my car again, but that's up to you. as far as the h23a block used with the h22 head, i have no idea. is the head even compatible without any extra modifications or customization?

if he is using the h22 head then i think u wont be loosing power, not exactly sure. but i think the h23 is 160hp because it isnt a vtec head...im almost certain bout this. so its kind of like a b16head on a ls block.

but who in the right mind would go with their own block inplace of yours. either the h23block was **** to begin with or hes goina keep your h22 block if its any better...again i dont realli know by h-motor specs.

Wonder what would happen if you took it out, bounced it off the rev limiter until it blew, and then be like..."HEY WTF MAN!!! THIS ISN'T MY BLOCK, PUT MY BLOCK BACK IN!!!" Then he'd have a blown H23 and you'd have your H22 block. Just wondering, so don't get all pissy over this guys...

Im confused with how you wrote..

So you brought the car to the shop with a f*cked H22a motor,,to get a new motor put in,,They were suppose to put in another H22a replacement motor,,But instead put in a H23a motor without notifying you..And now your original H22a is missing in action.. Is that what happend? I see you're in NJ,,there are alot of shady shops around here..What is the name and location of the shop,,?
