Default Damn moonroof! I need help guys.

I was driving to the bank today, and when I parked, and hit the switch to close the moonroof, it closed about halfway, then kind of stopped. I tried to manually push it with my hand, but I could only get one side down, the other side was still all the way up. I looked in the archives and only found 2 threads on it, and they say to grease it up. So I did, but that still hasnt solved it, does anyone know any other way to fix this problem? And if I had to take the headliner off, how the hell do I do that. Oh yeah most importantly its a 1993 si hatch. Any help is GREATLY appreciated, I cant find any shops out here willing to fix it except for Honda, and they want $95/hour.

its easier to just get another sunroof. mine did something similar, it is easier, and cheaper to just replace it witha junkyard one. and you will have to drop the headliner. but its simple took me like 30 mins..

expletive im too afraid of ruining my headliner, I cant seem to get this **** to work, its so frustrating because it might rain and im worried. I made an appointment at Honda this Friday, so hopefully it gets fixed, but its going to cost me my left nut. $95 an hour, and they said its probably a 2 hour job. So that sets me back on my ******* swap money. FTL

Ok, I was able to locate an allen wrench, and after a few minutes of trying to manually open the moonroof, it finally opened up all the way. I cleaned the tracks, and lubed it all up. Opened it and closed it a few times, and it all seemed ok, but for some reason when I close it, the passenger side wont close all the way. And the motor just makes a loud clicking noise as if its not grabbing or something. Damn guys any help on this.

Oh yeah and civic-fan, you messaged me, but I guess since im a trial member I cant send messages or something, im definately interested.

Who knows, at this point im desperate. I called around, and found a guy who would close it but said it would be around $300!!! He said that if I took it to the dealer, that it would cost me close to a grand!!! WTF? At this point, i'll try anything, im just afraid of messing up the car. I searched in the archive for a possible write-up on removing the headliner/moonroof, but I cant really find anything specific.

Ok, so I fought my moonroof for a few hours today, and I finally got it to go all the way down and close, only problem is, I can NEVER try and open it again lol. Which is fine with me, I have so much **** I have to order for this car starting this Saturday (I just got the car last week lol) its not even funny. Once I finish with the car and decide to nit pick, i'll go ahead and pay the cash to have it fixed or replaced with a new one. Till then, problem solved, and thanks for all the help!

that guy that told u its gonna cost a friggin grand is a moron. my father works for a honda dealer and he said maybe 500 at most... but thats still alot of money... probably needs to get greased like no other... open it all the way and check and see if theres anything that could possible be causing it to bind up.. well pop the glass out and have someone run the switch.. wathc the linkage on the side that wont close.. the linkage will probably get stuck.. then thats ur problem... see if u can grease the linkage or some how get it unstuck... then close it and dont open it till u can get the new linkage....if it was a motor it wouldnt close at all. hope this helps u out
