Default Stuck moonroof?

I have a 95 Honda Civic with the factory moonroof. It was working fine until a few days ago when I parked it under a tree. The moonroof closed when I preseed the button but it would not open since then. The motor starts and the roof begin to move. However, as soon as it moves about an 8th of an inch, it stops and gets stuck, and the motor seems unable to pull it. It closes that 1/8th of the inch when I try to close it.

My diagnosis is that something is stuck under the slider, but how do I verify this?

I am unable to open the moonroof even manually with the wrench. Whatever is stuck in there seems to be stuck deep. How do I go about taking the moonroof apart (to fix it) if I cannot even open it?

Thanks in advance for your help.

When it gets stuck have you tried giving it a little push to see if it continues to open. It happens on mine. I just give it a little nudge and it goes back shaking. I just need to clean and grease the rails.

Interesting. I will try it tonight when I get home. Do I just nudge it in the direction it is supposed to move?

When I push the open button it will just get stuck. Usually I can just close it then open it again and it will work. If not just give it a push up.

Mines dont want to open on my teg, I press it and it moves a little and then wont move, I can hear the motor whining. Headliner seems like a bitch to take off to put a new motor if thats the problem.

I think I have pretty much the same problem. Trying to help it along does not work. I am also told that headliners are notoriously difficult to put back, and mistakes can result in leaks :-(

Off topic: How long do I stay as a trial member? Do I have to email an admin or something before I can become a regular member?

Edit: Never mind, according to an old post, it is 20 days, before I become a regular member.

It did it only a few times. had my but puckered though...i thought it was fucked. it might be off track? i donno...my window wouldnt roll back up, but i could hear it trying to work...something like the line came out of a pull or something? i donno...took it to honda and they charged me an assload just to get it working again. But that was before I got the good ol HELMS! =o)

Sad thing is in ordere to remove the headliner most the the interior panels need to come becasue they overlap the headliner. Its not hard but time consuming. look at it this way, now you can clean your headliner while its out.

Mine did the same thing. it really sucks until i was having a bad day and tryed opening it while punching it. i actually put it back on track and now its good. instead of just opening it back, try pushing up and it and press the arrow up button. should crack open in the back. then press the slide back button. u should be good to go. if not, i dont know what to tell you.

there is a manual open and close. on the headliner towards the back there is a round cap that if you take off there is a key and that key is located in your trunk tool kit. take that key, put it inthe hole, and crank away!! most people dont know about this feature!!
