Default Driving around with no o2 sensor = bad for motor?

I'm taking off my greddy kit and running N/A for about a month, before I put my new turbo setup on. I have a Y8 exhaust manifold, but there's no o2 sensor in it.

Could I just put a bolt in the o2 bung and drive the car around N/A for a little while? I already put my stock o2 sensor in my 3" downpipe.

If it has any bad effects on my motor, then obviously I'll put it in. But if not, then I'll just run without it in and live with the CEL for a month.

Thoughts?

youll get **** for gas mileage but other then that youll be fine. Just take your o2 sensor out of the DP and put it in the header.

You plug the hole with a spark plug, not a bolt. And I disagree. Running in open loop mode for along period of time is going to foul your plugs, destroy your cat, and possibly cause damage to some other components. Why the hell would you want to leave out the O2? YOU GET BETTER POWER WITH THE DAMN THING INSTALLED.

Gas = $$$ And your car is going to stink like ***. Gasoline soaked ***.

A new cat is very expensive. The old one will clog up, you won't be able to go past 2500rpm or something, geo metros will pass you on any road, and you may end up blowing a header gasket or something. Maybe even cracking your header from the pressure. How do I know, I had a car that was in full rich mode and I didn't know......I paid for it.

It is there for a reason. Can't you just unbolt it or you 3" pipe and put it back?

It could be. Have a friend run up your engine and you see if there is a lot/any exhaust coming out the back. You can also try kicking the cat while your friend is reving and see if anything happens. Sometimes the honeycomb comes temporarly free.

If you need a new one and don't have a lot of money you can ask around a few muffler shops. Some of them have used ones that they can install very cheap if you don't ask for a receipt and pay cash. I did it once, cost me $50, new one was quoted at $300. The typical cat lasts for something like 5-7yrs. So if you instal one that is only 2 yrs old you are still on top of the game.

Cheers.
