My bro test drive a used Dx and the MPH needle was bouncing all over. When we stop and turn off the engine . i decided to tap on top dash and the needle bounced. Does that mean the needle is broken? which mean need to change cluster or is it the vss?
my bro said he think its the cluster.
he might pick up this used car but i just want to know what u guys think .

 

Sounds like a cluster problem.

 

Try both. If the needle is all over the place while the car is driving, that sounds like a VSS issue. However, when he tapped on it and it moved.. That tells me it's a cluster issue. Try swaping in a new cluster, and if that fails, try a new VSS.

thanks everyone. im thinking its cluster too. well my bro havent buy the car yet so our family still waiting on what he decide . to buy or not to buy.

well thanks. i told him if he could find a used cluster then go ahead and buy the car and change it later but if its problems / $ then look for another used car instead.
