Default Code 73 being thrown by the ECU....doesn't sound good!

The check engine light came on last night and this morning I went out to the car and pulled the code. It came out to be #73 Cylinder 3 Misfire or a Random Misfire a condition is present that is creating a cylinder misfire. What does this exactly mean and what could be going wrong with my car? Thanks

If you don't mind me asking, are you sure it's code 73?

But anyways, I would check your spark plug wires and make sure they are tight. Basically, check over your entire ignition system. HTH

I'm positive that it is a code 73....it has 7 long flashes and 3 quick/short flashes...what could be going wrong?

I threw codes 71 and 72 after my wastegate was'nt hooked up correctly...both pistons were fried. Maybe its something little like a bad sparkplug, but you better run a compression test to make sure.

check your spark plug cylinders, or your spark plugs or wires to make sure they aren't fouled, i threw that code, after washing my engine one day, adn getting water in the spark plug cylinders. Car heating up, could be blown head gasket, if the car gets hot quick.

i too threw a code 73. during a mis-shift from 3rd into 4th at redline(damn mobile1 gear oil, but thats a whole differnt thread ) change your sparkplugs asap and reset the ecu. that worked for me as far as the cel, but my engine now has a clicking sound. i think my #3 injector is screwed.
