Default stupid question (possibly)......pre-DA integra dizzy?

I was at my local Pull-A-Part yesterday, hunting for parts for my swap, so far i managed to get a manual tranny off an integra...idk if it was a da or pre, it had the pop up headlights. i also snagged the axles, coolant hoses, and a few other misc. parts all for under $200. now, i was looking at the dizzy, and thinking about snagging that too (motor was either a b18a or a b17). only problem was that the cap looked pretty small. i mean, i may just be retarded as i havent looked at my dizzy in a long time. anyone know if this will work for by pre-OBD b16 swap?

bump!

i am doing some weight reduction on the car, pretty much stripping it down to the bare essentials inside the cabin as well as the engine bay, and noticed that the dizzy on my car is roughly 1.5 times the size of the one i saw. i swear my dizzy looks like a dohc dizzy, but obviously it cant be if its on the car. eh. any ideas?

Sorry to break the news to you buddy, but if you got parts from an Integra with "pop up" headlights, that would be the 1st gen Integra with the DOHC "D" series engines. Those are not the B-series. Its the D16a1 that makes a 118hp at the CRANK, not the wheels.

If you got parts from a "pop up headlight" Prelude. That would be a 3rd generation Prelude with the B20a5 motor, which is not like the common B-series you hear of. That motor is like the red-headed step-child of Honda motors.

Its a 2.0 Liter motor that makes a measley 135 hp at the CRANK, not the wheels. The motor also has a bad "rod ratio". If you dont know what that means, dont worry, that the least of your problems.

The Prelude has a hydraulic transmission that shifts by cables, so much work will be needed to swap into your EF.

Many people get the DOHC 1.6L engine from the U.S. Integra confused with the Japan "ZC" which is also DOHC.

The D16a1 engine like I stated above is only rated at 118hp at the crank, Plus, the mounts are different so it will not bolt into your EF using common aftermarket Swap mounts.

Hope that clarifies things for you. Now go see if you can return all that CRAP that wont work for you!

everything except the tranny came off of a DA. all the DA's in the yard were already ripped through. ill take the tranny, and possibly go to the pull a part in tacoma and hunt for a DA down there. could have fooled me though, good lookin out!
