NEed Help Fast! Like a Bandaid or something. Cam bearing failed! Need Advice!
Hello everyone.
Well it looks as though my POS accord has given me more trouble. I'm in such a terrible situation with my money situation and my life is kinda a mess and I am basically gonna have to tackle this myself. I need a fast bandaid way to fix this. Me and my girl were about to get some food warming up the accord. the car suddenly died. i knew what had happened already when i cranked and heard no valves opening! my Cam belt went. after taking off my valve cover and rocker assembly i noticed one of the 6 cam bearing journals was spun. their is a bad pit in the journal and i pulled out as much of the fillings as i could. i absolutely cannot afford time off from work to fix the car right at this time. beleive me i know how important this is I'm no newbie but I'm in such a bad way right now i can't do anything but bandaid it and hope it will get me through at least the week.
Can i just use my polishing wheels on my dremel and clean the journal up best i can to make it so i does not lock up again and hope that the remaining journals will support the load for at least a week? Is their a possibility that i can get away with it till the end of the week so i can replace the head? it's Sunday and i can't get off work to do it now. has anyone else ever attempted this? I'm sure someone has to be able to give advice. i had to walk 3 miles to auto zone to get a timing belt and oil so I'm pretty screwed now. i don't even know how I'm getting to work tommorw if this fails.
I will provide pics shortly. sorry if this sounds desperate but I'm in a bad way.

I sincerely wish there was a "Band Aid" fix for this, but there really isn't.
For some reason (which 'till today still escapes me) The Japanese love to run steel camshafts in a plain aluminum bearing. No bearing insert, nothing to replace.
Ironically, it's quite a good system until either you suffer a local overheating condition or oil starvation. I suspect it was the latter (the interior of the valve compartment looks pretty dark).
The Drill from here? Determinw why you lost oil pressure, replace the head and install a new timing belt.
Even trying to smooth out the old cam journal will not be met with success. You'll most likely have such excessive clearance that you'll loose oil pressure all the more.

how many miles on the car?
I'd try getting a whole engine from a JY that way you can pull the head and other parts if needed.
IF you get the head off and back on in about 4 hours if you know what you are doing......

Valvecover bolts came loose and oil was leaking into the sparkplug holes. i noticed them filled up when i pulled it apart and assume that's why. i have not had much time lately to go over the car, i bought it and stated driving it until weather warms up and i get some time off work. i guess i gotta take the bus to wrok till next week which is gonna be very difficult in my situation. I was hoping i could get through the week like this but i don't know what to do know.

I assume we're talking about the '91, right?
You're going to have to determine which of several avenues makes more sense.
* Fix the car
* Buy another '91 and use your old as a parts car. or
* Sell it for parts and put both the proceeds and the money you would have spent on repairs towards a newer example.
It will be determined by how fast this stuff's gotta happen, how much you can afford and the basic condition of the rest of the car. It's really a matter of throwing good money on bad.
