My friend has a 94 Accord LX automatic and for some reason, when she was driving it the other day on the highway, the car downshifted by itself into 3rd gear when the car is in D4. We rested the engine for a while, but now whenever we drive, the car shifts through the first gears ok, but doesn't shift up to 4th. It stays in 3rd for some reason. So basically, I'm driving 55 mph on the highway going 5000 rpm. If you guys could provide me with your expertise, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks.

 

try changing the ATF with some genuine honda ATF. next check the kick down lever. if its still stuck/slipping then most likely your clutch packets in the tranny are hosed.
