Default stainless steel header

ok so i hear that when you install a stainless header its best not to leave finger print on it b4 starting because they will get baked in. is this true? and also give me any tips i should know for this.

hey just installed one tonight. wipe it down w/ brake cleaner or paint thinner or some sort of solvent that gets all the oil residue off before running. i personally use an old biker trick to help it from blueing, spray the inside of the runners w/ high temp paint as best as possible before installing it. there is also companies that make an anti blueing product as well

what he said... you can touch all you want just make sure you wipe it down afterwards

thnaks guys any other suggestions will help to. Also what do u mean by blueing, i thought they only turned bronze/gold

rarely do they turn bronze/gold they ususaly ture a bluish color

I had one for a while, It was blueish bronze color. As it got farther away from the head, it got lighter. I would say about the first 6 inches of the header changed colors. After that it stayed the original stainless steel color.

can you wipe it down after the prints/bluish stuff has been "baked" on?

i found wd40 wiping it down after installed gives it an equal color change all around and a nice bronze color
