Default Fiberglass Tech Help

Im looking to learn something new and was hoping some of you guys would have some experience with fiberglass.
Does anyone have any links that will give you a step by step on how to use it. How to build the enclosure, wrap the object to put the fiberglass on etc.

I have basic knowlage with fiberglass, What you need are 2 things, The fiber glass resin, and the fibreglass cloth, now how much of those depends on what your doing

Fiberglass is messy, and takes alot of time, but in the end all the patience pays off

Now lets say you wanted to make a fibre glass center console of your car, id say get 2 cans of resin and 2 packages of cloth

What you would need to do is take out the center console of your car to use as a copy

You need to Cover the whole outside of the console with masking tape, then u wanna Start cutting the sheets of fibre glass into strips about 2 inches wide and 12 long,

Then you need to mix the hardner with the fibre glass, you should get like a small plastic container, and pour some of the resin in it, then put maybe, 4 drops of the hardner in, get a 2" inch paint brush, ok now what you wanna do is basically cover the whole console where u taped with the strips, i usually lay a strip down use the brush and cover half the strip with the resin so it sticks

then lay it down and cover the rest, you want to make it even, use the whole packages on it, then after u lay the strips down go over all the strips with the brush and give it a coat of resin, let it try

After a few hours ( depending if u got the right ammount of hardner) it should be dry, then take try to remove the fibreglass console from the original, ok

now itll look just like the orginal except the edges and stuff will be all hanging and such,

you then will need to sand 2 things, The edges so its nice and clean, dont do it by hand because itll take pretty long, i suggest getting one of those high speed grinder/sanders

and the console its self, you wanna make it nice and smooth, it will take a while but it will be worth it,

BE AWARE THAT WHEN YOUR SANDING, YOU WILL BECOME VERY VERY ITCHY

dont use cloth use chop mat, mat is much stronger and wont peel like cloth will, but if you do use cloth use it in alternating layers with the mat in between it

caraudiohowtos.com sells great videos and memberships ive learned a lot from them.
