HACKING!! Eg 1/2 Rad Install - Stock Crossmember - Can I Hack This? *PICS*
Well heres my story
Ive got an 88 Crx si, d16a6 motor. I recently had a ramhorn manifold but I got rid of it because I became broke, I got this eg rad to work fine with the ramhorn because the wastegate was facing forwards.
now my new manifold places the wastegate to the side and the rad just wont fit anymore, I have to tilt it back and the hood will not close alllllll the way and I dont even have a rad cap on it yet

The first time around I cut the stock crossmember up a bit and wedged the rad down there *the crossmember was welded up where I cut, not shown in pic*
But now I need to pull the rad back a good inch and drop it down another inch, in order to do this I need to cut the bar infront of the crossmember, I think its called the rad support but I duno, see pics
Am I allowed to cut this notch out of this bar without reinforcing it or is it a structural part of the car?

we cut the lower radiator support bar completely out of ours and made brackets off the crossmember lip to support our EK radiator - it is just there as its name implies as a radiator support
So its not structural? I dont mind cutting it off one bit
i was hesitant though and just got busy with other ****
heres another pic of what the rad looks like before

Oh and the webbing is cut out of the hood, but its a fiberglass hood, seems to sit lower

i cut mine there too, i cut mine closer to the pass. side headlight, so it sits flat against the top support. makes it look a bit cleaner.

I drive like a **********, constantly dropping gears and launching
I might throw a brace across it infront of the rad, i might not need to completely cut it out, just a good 1" chunk of it

I did what D15B did, cut that front brace off, and I relocated the cooling fan to a pusher fan, well upgraded to a 1400cfm pusher. Now I have plenty of room for a filter on my turbo.

I just wanted to say that I loved that line.

Well it was pretty easy, took 5 min to cut it off and then I cut a piece of 2 inch high 1/4" thick mild steel and welded it across the bottom, so my rad sits on that and it ziptied to it and my intercooler is also attached to it
Turned out pretty nice actually
I'll take a pic tomorrow
