Default good deck?

im putting together a system and so far i have a 500 watt rms direct amp, 2 12 inch pheonix gold octane-r subs and am looking into an alpine deck. its a cde-9845 i think? this is it-

Any way its just a entry level deck and was wondering if it has a decent amount of options? im buying this deck from a freind for 150 cdn so i think its a good deal. o and whats a better box in general, sealed or vented? would anyone be able to give me the specs for a box that would suit those subs? thatd be great. thx.

no, not if you are ever looking to add say a 4 channel, a changer,Ipod capabilities, or Sat. Radio... you need one with the model number starting with CDA- whatever...
The CDE's do no support Ai net...

I have to agree, It is last years model and has been replaced by the CDE-9846 and the MSRP on it is only $180 US... http://www.alpine-usa.com/en/p...-9846
There are 10 on ebay for $130 or less and some are brand new... http://electronics.search.ebay...d9845

It's used, it's last years, it has few features, it is not worth more then $100 Canadian, and it would have to be in mint shape with the box and owners guide.

I would save up the pennies and look at one of the CDA units, you can pick up one of last years models cheap, "below cost" for a brand new one with full Alpine warranty, from an authorized Alpine dealer blowing them out for the new models. 94

you can pick up the cda 9807 on ebay for around $120 shipped. yes it's about 3 years old, but wow, what a deck! it has 4 volt preouts (3 sets), Ai capability, 50x4, media Xpander...sounds incredible! i paid $280 new for mine right when it came out and it's been one of the best investments i ever made for my car!

The only problem is, if the CDE-9845 has a problem, you can always find your friend, on the other hand if you have a problem with something from eBay or any online place, good luck getting it resolved 94

alpine builds their products just like honda does. understated and to the point. their build quality is excellent, i wouldn't be worried about it holding up. and furthermore, what's your friend gonna do for you if the unit has a problem? he's not a dealer. with ebay, at least there's feedback, inaccurate item description claims. you can get a sense of the seller by other people's comments before you buy.

honestly, i really do think that the cda-9807 specifically is the deck you want. best bang for buck. it doesn't LOOK as impressive as some of the other, more expensive ones, but it has the more important features. do you want show, or do you want go? with the current model alpines you have to go up to the $400+ price point to get 4v preouts. the 9807 has them. it's also got the bass/treble frequency center adjustment as well as the media expander. if you're looking for the important features at a low price, this is the deck.

ya im actually looking at the panansonic CQ-C7303U quite closely. I've always wanted a "video" screen and this has all the options aswell. see it here:
http://cgi.ebay.com/2006-BRAND...wItem
and on the panasonic site:
http://www2.panasonic.com/weba...05702
i think its a sweet deck for the price. you can even upload your own pics/vids on it.

there's ONE reason and one reason ONLY that i chose my alpine over pioneer, which has always been my favorite for car audio. that reason is the media search feature, which as far as i know, ONLY alpine has. with most decks on the market, you have to skip through your mp3s one track at a time, and wait for the id3 tag to load before you know what song you're on, unless you want to memorize the track number of 150 songs. on a disc with 20 songs, no big deal. on an mp3 disc with 150 songs, that takes forever! with alpine, you can scroll through all the songs on the disc by name, pick the one you want, and go straight there, all while another song is playing. check out an alpine deck in a store, then try the panasonic one. you'll see what i mean. bring an mp3 disc with you. panasonic makes decent stuff, that's what i have at home. the reciever is probably as old as i am and it sounds great, never let me down. very clear. but i don't think they have the same engineering into their car audio. do you want to sit in your car and press the "next track" button 100+ times to get to the song you want? think about it. alpine is the ONLY choice.

no, panasonic is a good name. just not for car audio. i'm just saying, try out the deck before you buy. and alpine decks have ipod compatibility, too. even if you don't go alpine, you can do better than panasonic for the same money. it's not all about features. it's about how well the deck/interface is designed. if the features are a pain in the *** to use, they might as well not be there. make sense?

for car audio especially, sony is probably the most hugely overrated brand i can think of. i'm disappointed at what they've done with their reputation.
