Troubleshooters here -- Timing Issue?
Okay -- so here's the deal.. I have a b18a in my 92 hatch... The engine was put together by a shop not far from my home...anyway, I had idle issues with the car when I got it back, so I took it to another mechanic... He hooked up some sensors that was missing, and the car still had a little idle problem (idle's around 1,000, but dips to 750, then back up to 1,000) when I got the car back. The car pulled hard and seemed to be running good. Then -- oil light comes on. Flashes and then goes off. Took the car back to the mechanic, said the problem was the oil pump. So he replaced the oil pump and the timing belt and said the he adjusted the cams... anyway.. I get the car back, and it bogs/has power issues through the first 2,000 rpm -- mechanic stated he thought the clutch was going -- however the clutch was grabbing FINE when I first got the car back. So anyway.. I get to a stop sign, try to start the car, let off the clutch and the car just sits at about 500 rpm and will not rev up. The car CRAWLS up the hill with the gas pedal on the floor at about 500 rpm, and after I get over the tiny hill, the car gets going and I get it home. I parked it then.... Anyone have any suggestions? Do you think the mechanic didn't adjust the timing properly? Like I said, the egine ran VERY strong when I first got it back, until the oil light came on (i figured it was a pressure issue because the oil level was fine -- I check it religiously). Any info would help! Thanks!
Well -- it's definately not the clutch, b/c even when I put the car in neutral and try to give it gas, the car won't rev -- just checked it out now while it was in the garage. it's like the car just bogs down to 500 rpm -- didn't cut off from what I saw, but would not rev at all. Thanks.
