Default Anyone tried to mix and match parts to make a broken dizzy work?

My distributor went out at the end of the summer. I was thinking the igniter went out cuz my computer throws a code 20. I put in my friends dizzy that is going out and it throws the TDC sensor code which my last dizzy did as well when it went out. With my friends dizzy in it only throws the TDC sensor code. and with mine in it throws just the code 20. If it is not the igniter then could I swap out the TDC sensor from mine into his dizzy. Logically it makes sense but just wanted to know if anyone has done this b4?

I attempted to try this out but the screw on my friends igniter stripped and on my dizzy (which I got from Singapore) the screws for the TDC sensor has little star shapes on the top of the screw and a raised portion right in the middle of that which I have never seen b4. I am not sure if it is called a hex screw but it has the added raised portion in the middle making my bits obsolete. I will try to find someone to drill out the igniter screw but until then just wondering if anyone has tried to mix and match dizzy parts b4?

its called a security torx, any autopartstore should sell them. if im not mistaken its like a t15 i think. yes you can swap internals rather thatn swapping the bad tdc sencor out. use the case with the good tdc sensor and swap out everything else its easier that way.

I've tried as well and it seems freaken hopeless. The little screws are so soft and rusted, if I ever get a problem I'll probably just buy a distributor king one.
