Why did my car idle higher and seem faster when i had...
So the other day i started up my car and drove about 4 blocks and it was idleing a lot faster than normal, the tach was jumping around, and then i noticed that the temp needle was beginning to move past center over to the right, so i turned it off, and popped the hood, and noticed that i have no coolant, so i pushed it 14 blocks (2 were uphill) to a shop to see what was up, i dont know whats going on yet, and i cant look myself, but why was my car idleing weird and why did it seem like i had more power when i had no coolant?
apparently i had a broken tranny mount and when the engine torqued up it pulled the hose off itself, damn.... maybe this helps my original question
You were probably stuck in either open loop/closed loop, not sure which but, the temp sensor didn't have coolant flowing to it, and it can't measure air accurately. So you were running rich, which is the default setting the ecu uses to save your engine. Sounds good anyway.
