Default Removing Catalytic Converter..

Wassup guys... got my DC headers an hi flow cat the other day, finally got to putting it on an im stuck... I got the headers an extention to the cat put on no problem... But the 3 nuts that connect the cat to the rest of the exhaust are not moving? I can see threads so they dont look welded really but im not sure... Does anyone know if they are in fact welded and i'll have to chop'm off..?? I had PB Blaster'd them, WD-40, then hit'm with my compressor at 150 psi an they just werent budging.. I'm talking bout the 3 14mm nuts on the back part of the cat... Thanks..

They're probably just rusted in there, if it's the stock muffler at the cat, it probably has never been taken down..

EDIT:

Yeah, you'll probably have to cut them. THough don't take my word for it, somebody else might have a better plan.

With the heat and exposure to the elements, the bolts are probably rusted badly. Try and remove them with a breaker bar, preferably with the exhaust OFF of the car so its easier for you.. unless you have a lift of corse.

Other than that, break out the cutting tools. You can get new CAT bolts from Honda for a few dollars.

Yeah that's what i guess im gonna have to do is just take the whole piping off an try to get'm off... It's also probably easier cuz theres that one bolt on the top that would be impossible to get to, so oh well i'll give it a shot an give update.. thanks..

i agree with the pipe n wrench... thats what i had to do... all 3 bolts broke on their way out as well. Make sure you get the surface smooth before putting the new cat in so that itll seal right

I'd say they are either going to break when you try and get them off or your gonna have to cut them

hey thanks guys, i got it off with a dremel saw n got the new one on... but now my car sometimes when i hit the gas like sputters "maybe ignition or fuel" an sometimes at high rpms at full throttle it does it... feels maybe like a misfire or something but im wondering, could it be that my new headers are causing my o2 to mess up since the increase in air flow? thanks...

naa i plugged 02 sensor back in, an it seems to work fine cuz im now throwing a CEL.... today it was really bad though, it was like sputtering like it was gonna die when i tried to accelerate through every gear, it sputters an spits as the rpms get higher it just keeps on doin it, but seems like if i go suppperrrrr slow an shift at like 2 grand between gears it doesnt get enough gas to make it sputter so thats what made me think fuel or something... anyone have any ideas of where i could even start to search?? would maybe fuel filter or something cause this..?? thanks..

You might have broken your O2 sensor, it sounds like your ECU isn't getting correct readings.
